Michael Whitworth will return to University on Sunday, February 25, and present the second part of his TEACHING ROCKET seminar.
TEACHING ROCKET is a teachers’ training seminar for the local church designed to educate, equip, and empower Bible class teachers of all ages. It has been said, “As the Bible Class goes, so goes the church.” Whether it’s doctrinal instruction, everyday life skills, or interpersonal connection and fellowship, a vibrant education program is vital to a vibrant church. Teaching Rocket helps you to become a more effective Bible class teacher.
Session 1: Understanding Seasons of Life
Discusses the needs of different lifestages — children, teens, and adults — and how to teach each lifestage appropriately.
Session 2: Deeper Bible Study
Explore the Bible’s literary genres and how to teach each one. Also provides an in-depth review of various Bible study resources and translations.
Session 3: Organizing the Lesson
Develops a lesson roadmap with a clearly defined objective. Session ends with a unit of making the jump from instruction to application.
Session 4: Psychology of Learning
Breaks down how each lifestage learns and explores methods to perpetuate autonomous learning through the week.
Session 5: Stage-crafting
Focuses on how to put our best foot forward through body language and dress when we stand before the audience. Also discusses the 10 Commandments of PowerPoint design and use.
Michael Whitworth is the owner of Start2Finish and author of several commentaries and Bible studies. He conducts 60+ TEACHING ROCKET seminars across the US per year. For 12 years, he served various congregations in Tennessee and Texas as a pulpit and education minister. He currently lives in Fort Worth, Texas, with his wife and two daughters.
