Once again, Buffs for Christ is partnering with various WT campus ministries and the Christian Relief Fund to host a fundraiser called Give-A-Goat/Shack-A-Thon 9.0 (that’s right, this is the NINTH year)! The purpose of this campus and community wide event is to raise money to buy goats for people in the desperate African region of Turkana. The project provides people who have suffered from years of civil war and drought with a mean to eat or even earn a living. CRF will purchase and deliver one goat for every $50 raised. The Give-A-Goat fundraiser culminates on April 26 at an event called Shack-A-Thon. During Shack-A-Thon, WT students are invited to participate in a picture of poverty by building and living in a cardboard shack for 24 hours on the WT campus.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
University has helped with Shack-A-Thon in a variety of way over recent years: people have brought cookies/snacks to Shack-A-Thon participants, managed Shack-A-Thon meals, driven fork lifts, hauled trailers, donated space for storing cardboard … and more! Also, University has been one of the primary contributors of goats, as well as Shack-A-Thon overhead funds. THIS YEAR’S SHACK-A-THON IS WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26. Donations can be given to UCC or Buffs for Christ — all checks should be made out to the Christian Relief Fund. It is possible to give a goat ONLINE as well at www.wtgiveagoat.com. Glory to God, over $184,000 has been raised in the past eight years; please be prayerful for safety and success in 2017!
