Buffs Notes – Week of July 30, 2017
Good morning University! Please, please accept my heartfelt thanks for all of the hard work that so many from UCC put into the 61st annual Campus for Christ Conference last week. All glory to God! I was talking with Darlene Barrington on Monday, and we celebrated how God used the specific talents of individual volunteers in a collective, communal, bold, and FULL way last week. What a beautiful image of the body of Christ!
As you know, at the heart of such conferences, and at the heart of Buffs for Christ, are priceless, precious SOULS on the university campus. I have seen a passion for college students from the University Church of Christ and from the students of Buffs for Christ like never before over this last week. So, I ask, what next?
One NEXT step, a tremendous opportunity, is the WTAMU move-in-day on Thursday, August 24th. The campus is reaching out to the community (again, what an opportunity!)–they need 250 volunteers to help 2000 students move onto campus Thursday, August 24th.
Try to remember, or imagine, the feeling of moving to college, moving away from home. There are mixed emotions. Students are excited for the new adventure. However, many are also scared (sometimes, even the ones that look pretty tough). I believe many are immediately looking for community, and it is very possible that the FIRST positive community experience they have will make the most lasting impression.
Please go to http://wtamu.edu/student-life/what-to-bring.aspx… and read a few short paragraphs about what is required. It would be WONDERFUL if we could get a solid group from Buffs for Christ and the University Church of Christ to reach out in this simple but special way on August 24th.
Once you have read the details, please communicate with Kenzie or me and let us know if/how you would like to be involved. Overall, please be prayerful about the SOULS on the WTAMU campus!
