Youth News – Week of April 9, 2017
Dear youth and parents,
I know that several things are going on towards the end of the semester. I hope you are doing well and staying on top of your assignments and obligations. Remember the words of Paul in Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for man.”
This Monday we are going to cancel devotional. We will pick things up later.
The 5th Annual High Plains Girls Conference will be April 29-30. This is a really great chance for all of you girls (6th – 12th grade) to invite your friends to an event. The cost for all UCC girls and their friends is only $10.
Help us decorate for the High Plains Girls Conference! This year our theme for the HPGC is “Believe There Is Good in the World/Be the Good in the World.” Our center pieces for the 20 plus tables that we decorate will be baskets of goods that are needed at local charities/organizations. We will be collecting the following items for Care Net, Story-Bridge, Snack Pak for Kids, Canyon Cares, Guyon Sanders, etc: diapers, formula, kids books, peanut butter, backpacks, baby wipes, sealable sandwich bags, granola bars, small bottled waters, paper lunch sacks, and travel-size toiletries.
Please give items to Tim, Aime, Monty, or place them in appropriate box in foyer. Thanks for being the good!!
The Junior High Dallas Trip is coming up soon (May 29-31) and is open to all current 6th graders and JH students. The total cost is $130, but the initial payment of $70 is due April 23. I will put you on the list when I receive this payment.
Opportunity Camp is coming up. The dates for camp are June 3-10 and the total cost is $145 (the first $75 is due April 23rd). If you are a current HS student, you are encouraged to come join us. Also, I need to collect towels and washcloths. If any one would like to donate some, I would be grateful.
Here are some other events/dates you may want to know about.
- Senior Banquet – May 7.
- High Plains Children’s Home activities – June 13-15.
- MIA – June 18-21 – $45.
- VBS – July 10-13.
- Blue Haven 5th Session – July 16-22.
I know that with these events plus camps and other activities, the summer months can be very expensive. Money should not be an issue for these events. We do have scholarships available.
